PMGN Archive: 2024

Georgia began 2024 intent on returning to the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs stormed out of the gate, flattening Clemson in the opener and grinding through one of the nation’s toughest schedules. Signature wins included a road triumph over No. 1 Texas and a clean finish against Tennessee and Georgia Tech. The lone blemishes came at Alabama and Ole Miss, but Kirby Smart’s squad regrouped to beat Texas 22–19 in an overtime classic to win another SEC title and secure his 100th career victory.

The playoff committee remained unconvinced. Slotted at No. 6, Georgia drew Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl and fell 23–10. The final record: 11–3 with another conference crown.

Poor Man’s Game Notes followed along, even if 2024 brought a few interruptions. A hurricane that hit Georgia and pressing professional duties pulled the staff away for several weeks, so PMGN appeared more sporadically than usual. We still had fun, and every issue that did make it out captured the color, culture, and week-to-week drama of Bulldog football.
